Rainshade Specialty LLC is a program administrator and specialty wholesale brokerage organized to serve the excess and umbrella liability needs of commercial real estate, habitational, hospitality, and gaming risks.

The business segments most exposed to today’s social inflation environment — nuclear verdicts, third-party litigation funding, aggressive plaintiff strategies — have historically been served by generalist programs with no particular depth in verdict risk. Rainshade was built to change that. We write one line of coverage and we write it better than generalists can, because it is the only thing we do.

We are organized in three divisions: Program Design & Development, Specialty Wholesale Brokerage, and the Social Inflation Risk Alliance — together giving us the flexibility to serve the full range of broker and carrier needs within our segment focus.

Eric Arthur

Eric Arthur has spent his career building specialty insurance programs for commercial property business segments, and Rainshade Specialty represents the culmination of everything those years produced.

He began building programs at National Specialty Underwriters (NSU), developing deep expertise in the underwriting, distribution, and administration of high-limits excess and umbrella programs for hotels, real estate, and habitational risks.

In 2008, Eric co-founded Fulcrum Insurance Programs in Bellevue, Washington — a specialty program administrator focused on high-limit umbrella liability purchasing groups for hotels, commercial real estate, habitational communities, and gaming facilities. He also co-founded AGPOM in 2009, a membership organization combining property industry advocacy with a tailored insurance program — the direct precursor to the purchasing group model the Alliance employs today.

Fulcrum’s acquisition by Distinguished Programs in 2015 validated what Eric had built. He joined Distinguished as Senior Vice President of Product Development, overseeing more than $100 million in aggregate premium across multiple specialty programs. Rainshade Specialty is his third founding.
